Prague has gone through many dramatic events in its centuries-long history. Many historical sites were destroyed during the hardships of war, others through religious and ideologic fanaticism.
In spite of all this however, it remains a work of art, a living artistic and architectural gallery.
Prague, a city born on the Vltava.
The Vltava River is the City's main waterway and is the longest river within the Czech Republic. The old Town and new town borders the river on one side (left of the image), the Lesser town and the magnificent Prague Castle on the other.
On both ends of Charles bridge in Prague, lies two guardians, the Lesser town bridge tower and on its opposite side over the river Vltava, there is one of the most beautiful Gothic towers in Europe, the Old Town Bridge Tower.
It's the one you see on the right of the shot, It was built together with the bridge and through it's gate it will lead you to the beautiful Old town of Prague
At one end of Charles Bridge, lies a large majestic church proudly marking the entrance to the Old Town, St. Salvator church.
It is considered to be one of the most valuable examples of early-Baroque architecture in Prague. It has a beautiful Baroque facia, with porticos decorated with sand-stone sculptures of saints by Jan Jirí Bendl
There are three St. Nicholas churches in Prague, this St. Nicholas Church lies at the centre of the Lesser Town Square and is built between 1704-1755
The Dancing House is one of the most interesting Prague houses built at the end of the 20 th century. The frontispiece consists of two towers that represents a man and a woman, dancing together.
Prague Castle, The largest ancient castle in the world (according to the Guinness Book of Records): 570m long, an average of 128m wide and covering a total area bigger than seven football fields
Charles Bridge, the oldest, most stunning and definitely the busiest bridge in Prague! It was build to replace the Judith Bridge that had been badly damaged by floods in 1342.
During the day the bridge is constantly filled with people checking out Czech artists, musicians and souvenir vendors whose stands line both sides of the bridge and mostly those beautiful Baroque statues placed along either side.

Prague is known as the “city of hundred spires” but you can also call it city of hundred bridges as well. There are over three hundred bridges in the city and eighteen of them span across river Vltava. Undoubtedly the most famous of them is Charles Bridge.
